So, what are the benefits of CBD edibles?
CBD edibles often have a more desirable taste than CBD oil. Even with the all-natural extracts infused into our CBD oil, the oil has a nutty, natural, and plant-like flavor. For most people, the taste is manageable, but for some, they would prefer less of this natural taste. With CBD edibles, the natural flavor is masked a bit more effectively for a more palatable experience.
It is also potentially easier to consume a more accurate dose with CBD edibles. Each CBD edible contains a predetermined amount of CBD. Wellness Tree Farms CBD edibles contain 25mg CBD per gummy. Our 750mg oil (30ml total) contains 25mg CBD per 1ml (or one dropper full). Each time you want to take a dose of 25mg or 50mg of CBD, with the gummy, you can quickly and more discreetly consume your desired dose of 1-2 gummies instead of having to measure 1-2 droppers of oil.
Now, some would say the difference in time to take each of these is negligible, but when you’re in a hurry or running behind for the day, time matters. Also, as previously mentioned, if you are looking to be more discreet when taking your CBD, it's a lot easier to eat a gummy or two than it is to take your bottle out and measure your desired dose.
CBD edibles can also provide longer relief (4-7 hours) than CBD oil. With CBD oil, the relief time is generally 2-4 hours because the oil is absorbed into the bloodstream more rapidly after consuming. It then gets metabolized out of the body quicker. Relief from a CBD edible is not as fast acting, however, since the edible must go through the process of digestion and be broken down by the body to be absorbed. This process takes time and you may not feel the effects of the edible for 1-2 hours, but the effects will last longer due to this slower absorption process.
Edibles and oil can both offer the same benefits in slightly different ways. Like our CBD oil, our edibles can be used for inflammation, anxiety, insomnia, pain relief, and to provide an overall feeling of wellness. As always, listen to your body and do what is best for you. Everyone is different. It’s also best to do your own research and consult with your physician about CBD use if you are currently taking other prescription medications.

]]>The medical use of cannabinoids dates back thousands of years and is well documented in many ancient civilizations. Recent policy changes have seen an increase in CBD and cannabis use throughout the United States, but restrictions and federal policies continue to limit the amount of clinical research conducted on this potentially beneficial product here in the US.
There is a rapidly growing body of research that validates years of anecdotal evidence that cannabis can provide benefits for a variety of patients. In the article Cannabinoids and Pain: New Insights From Old Molecules, the authors discuss the available clinical research of how cannabis has been used to treat a variety of types of pain.
The article includes an overview of pharmacodynamics or how cannabis, specifically cannabinoids, potentially act on multiple receptors and pain targets throughout the body. The authors go on to define and explain the three types of cannabinoids, which include phytocannabinoids or those found in plants, endocannabinoids or those found in the human body, and synthetic cannabinoids. The authors also cover the endocannabinoid system, including the receptors and endocannabinoids found in the body.
The effectiveness of cannabis on a variety of types of pain was further examined including animal pain, neuropathic pain, inflammation, cancer pain, and a variety of chronic pain. Positive findings included evidence for the use of medical cannabis for reducing chronic pain, and minimal side effects were reported with cannabis use. The need for larger, more detailed and long-term studies on cannabis use is needed to ensure customer and patient safety and to help guide healthcare professionals in making the best decisions for their patients.

]]>Ladybugs are a beneficial predatory insect that eat a variety of destructive pests such as aphids, spider mites, thrips, whiteflies, mealybugs, and leafhoppers, as well as many other soft-bodied pests. Most people are unaware that these destructive pests are very small, which allows them to enter your grow environment through clothing or unfiltered air sources without knowing. Many of these destructive pests can multiply and spread very quickly.
Without a preventative maintenance program in place, it’s easy to lose control of an infestation of pests that will ultimately destroy our hemp plants.
Therefore, at Wellness Tree Farms, we firmly believe that using ladybugs as beneficial predatory insects is key to maintaining the health of our hemp plants. This also allows our plants to thrive in a healthy environment without pesticides, as well as provide our customers with the highest quality CBD oil possible.

]]>But after that, we grind down what remains of the plant into hemp mulch -- a product with many applications, including animal bedding as well as use in fruit and vegetable gardening.
Hemp mulch has several advantages, including the fact that it is grown organically, which cuts down on the amount of dangerous herbicides or pesticides that could be present in other mulch. It is a natural insecticide, and it is biodegradable. As the pH neutral mulch decomposes, it turns into humus, which will add valuable nutrients back to the soil and promote plant growth.
Another benefit is that hemp mulch can absorb approximately 50 percent more water than traditional types of mulch. This helps with water conservation, keeping the soil moist as well as providing protection for growing plants or animals against temperatures that become too hot or too cold.
Hemp mulch is a natural, renewable alternative to traditional mulches that help you protect against weeds in your garden and can also provide an alternative, eco-friendly source for animal bedding.

]]>Wellness Tree Farms CEO Brian Nixon appeared Wednesday, January 19, 2022, in front of the Indiana House Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee. Brian spoke in favor of House Bill 1043 -- a bill that would establish a framework for craft hemp flower sales in Indiana.
Brian was asked to participate as an expert in the fields of agriculture, therapeutic medicine, and hemp growing and production. In part, he shared with the committee the mission of Wellness Tree Farms -- to demystify stigmas and educate on the wellness benefits of hemp and CBD products.
During his remarks, Brian made it clear to the committee that current laws and legislation in Indiana stand as a barrier to businesses like Wellness Tree Farms. Current laws prevent hemp growers in Indiana from reaching certain markets. HB 1043 would be a first step in allowing businesses like Wellness Tree to expand while also laying the legislative building blocks for future cannabis-related laws.
At the conclusion of Brian's remarks, he invited legislators to use Wellness Tree Farms as a knowledgable, experienced resource to help shape hemp and cannabis legislation not only during the current legislative session in Indiana, but in the future.
At the conclusion of the day's events, HB 1043 was advanced to a second reading by the Indiana House Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee by a vote of 10-2.

]]>Here are some common words you will hear when talking about hemp farming and CBD products.
Cannabidiol (CBD) - one of the primary cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.
Cannabinoid - beneficial chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant. Common cannabinoids include CBD, CBG, CBN and THC, but it is believed that at least 113 different cannabinoids are produced within the cannabis plant.
Cannabis - Two of the most common types of cannabis are cannabis sativa and cannabis indica.
Cannabis Sativa - variety of the cannabis plant that is commonly utilized for hemp and marijuana.
Hemp - strain of cannabis sativa plant that is used in CBD products. Hemp is defined by the 2018 Farm Bill as cannabis containing not more than 0.3% THC.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) - along with CBD, one of the primary cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. THC is associated with the vast majority of the psychoactive effects of marijuana.
Marijuana - any strain of cannabis plant (sativa, indica or hybrid) with THC levels that are typically between 10-20%, with some higher potency strains containing 25-30%.
Terpene - naturally occurring chemical compound found in plants and some animals. Terpenes are typically responsible for the aroma or flavor of a plant but it is also believed that they work in tandem with other cannabinoids (including CBD) to produce effects of different strains of the cannabis plant.
Tincture - a solution of a medicinal substance usually taken orally using a dropper.
Biomass - (pictured above) green matter including leaves, petals, buds, and seeds that is removed from the hemp plant. Biomass is ground down and goes through the extraction process to produce CBD.
Bucking - part of the hemp harvesting process where the greenery is removed from the hemp plant. (Watch a video of Wellness Tree bucking.)
Full-spectrum CBD oil - Final CBD retail product that contains crude CBD oil, mixed with a carrier oil most commonly MCT or coconut oil. Full-spectrum oil contains CBD, terpenes and other potentially beneficial cannabinoids and cannot contain more than 0.3% THC. As opposed to CBD isolate products, which only contain CBD and have had THC processed out but may not have as many medicinal benefits as full-spectrum oil.
Crude oil - the oil product produced after the extraction process. Crude oil is as close as you can get to the true chemical makeup of the plant.
Certificate of analysis (COA) - report of lab testing results that will list which cannabinoids and terpenes are present in a product and at what levels. Best practice is that COA’s are available for public (as ours are) view on a company’s website for each product that it sells.
Hemp mulch - once the greenery and biomass has been removed, the remaining hemp plant stalks are ground down into hemp mulch. Hemp mulch has many applications including animal bedding and fruit/vegetable gardening.

]]>After a season of talking one-on-one with customers at local markets and venues throughout Central Indiana, we thought it would be a worthwhile endeavor to tackle some CBD myths head on.
Here are 10 common perceptions -- matched with their reality -- to help you better understand the benefits of CBD:
CBD does not make you "high" like THC. CBD can boost your mood or potentially decrease your anxiety, but it does not have the same mind-altering impact that THC can have on the body.
The reality is that a variety of factors will impact how CBD will be absorbed by your body including your height, weight, lifestyle, metabolism, body chemistry and how you are using CBD. Although we do recommend consulting your physician before beginning CBD use, every member of the Wellness Tree Farms staff holds a degree or certificate in a medical field. This makes us like-minded and uniquely qualified as a CBD company to provide safe, reliable products and guidance to customers.
The Farm Bill of 2018 legalized the cultivation of hemp through USDA-approved programs across the country. We do everything at Wellness Tree Farms by the book and according to the law. In fact, we’re so confident in how safely we do things, we would welcome more industry regulation and oversight than we currently face.
CBD products are not currently regulated by the FDA, and there is a lot of variability of the products on the market. Wellness Tree Farms products contain full spectrum CBD oil, which means that they contain CBD as well as other cannabinoids that can be beneficial for your body. Other products contain CBD
that has been isolated. When making a CBD company choice, always look for a company that is transparent about their processes and procedures, and make sure it publishes certificates of analysis. Wellness Tree Farms is an active member of the Midwest Hemp Council and welcomes additional regulations.
The most common conditions that people take CBD oil for are pain and inflammation, insomnia and anxiety. Research is beginning to provide evidence of what CBD can and cannot be used for. Claims that CBD oil is a cure-all that can address any ailments in the body are misleading and confusing. The FDA has approved one CBD product, a prescription drug product, to treat seizures associated with certain conditions in patients one year of age and older.

CBD oil and hemp oil do, in fact, both come from hemp plant. But, they come from different sources on the plant itself. CBD oil is extracted from the flowers, leaves and stalks of the hemp plant, while hemp oil is made from the seeds of the hemp plants. Hemp oil has been found to have little to no CBD content.
CBD and THC are both cannabinoids that are found in the cannabis plant. Although both CBD and THC have a similar chemical structure, they interact with the endocannabinoid system differently and have different effects on a person’s body. THC is the primary psychoactive chemical found in marijuana and will make people feel “high.” Wellness Tree Farms products contain 0.3% or less of THC, as required by the 2018 Farm Bill.
Like most things we put into our bodies, CBD oil may potentially have some negative side effects for people who ingest it. The most common side effects can include digestive upset, sleepiness, dizziness or changes in appetite. In general, CBD oil is considered fairly safe but customers should always consult with a physician before beginning to use CBD if they have any questions or concerns.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently completed a comprehensive review of CBD. The WHO concluded that “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential.”
In general, CBD is absorbed into the bloodstream within 20-120 minutes, depending on a variety of factors including the method of intake, quality and concentration of your CBD products and your individual body chemistry. It may take a few days for you to notice the benefits and effects of CBD on your system. We recommend taking CBD for 30 days to fully understand how your body responds.

]]>The simple explanation of how they work is that some of these cannabinoids may inhibit pain, anxiety, and muscle spasticity, while others can potentially stimulate appetite and an overall sense of well being.
]]>Wellness Tree Farms is committed to the best known scientific research in the development and use of our cannabinoid (CBD) products. While hemp plants with cannabinoids have been used throughout human history, medical scientists have only just begun to understand the many potential benefits of CBD to the human body and psyche.
Understanding why CBD may be a marvel at reducing pain, anxiety and other health issues begins with understanding the Human Endocannabinoid System. This highly-complex biological system is made up of endocannabinoids, lipid-based neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors found throughout the nervous system - in the brain, nearly all organs, connective tissues, various glands, and immune system cells. By understanding this system, scientists are discovering how brain activity connects to various states of physical health and disease.
Two primary cannabinoid receptors were first identified in research done in 1992 and termed CB1 and CB2. CB1 is predominantly in the central nervous system and brain. CB2 is connected to regulating our immune system. Endocannabinoids bind to, as well as activate, cannabinoid receptors. There are two main endocannabinoids known to date - anandamide and arachidonloylgelycerol, natural cannabis-like molecules that are produced in the body to keep it in homeostasis or equilibrium or a balanced state.
The simple explanation of how they work is that some of these cannabinoids may inhibit pain, anxiety, and muscle spasticity, while others can potentially stimulate appetite and an overall sense of well being.
The discovery of the way these molecules can interact with this system, as CBD does quite well, is a big advancement in the field of wellness. These natural substances might just improve our quality of life in ways that synthetic compounds have not even come close to.
The exciting thing is that this science is just in its early stages. As the body of research rapidly grows, researchers are identifying more and more about the possible effects of specific cannabinoids on the endocannabinoid system. There is so much more to learn about the endocannabinoid system and the potential effects of a myriad of cannabis constituents besides CBD. The medical field has only begun to understand the benefits and implications of cannabis on the human body and mind.
