Did you know that June is Hemp History Month? The Midwest Hemp Council recently shared some interesting facts about hemp in their June newsletter that include:
- Evidence of the use of hemp goes back to more than 10,000 years, making it one of the oldest industries on the planet
- The Columbia History of the World states that a bit of hemp fabric that dates back to approximately 8,000 BC is one of the oldest relics of human industry
- Presidents Washington and Jefferson both grew hemp. It was such an integral part of the Colonial Era that you could pay taxes with hemp for over 150 years.
