June is Hemp History Month!

Did you know that June is Hemp History Month?  The Midwest Hemp Council recently shared some interesting facts about hemp in their June newsletter that include: 

  • Evidence of the use of hemp goes back to more than 10,000 years, making it one of the oldest industries on the planet
  • The Columbia History of the World states that a bit of hemp fabric that dates back to approximately 8,000 BC is one of the oldest relics of human industry
  • Presidents Washington and Jefferson both grew hemp. It was such an integral part of the Colonial Era that you could pay taxes with hemp for over 150 years.
